Puerto Rico Facts
Puerto Rico is also known as Porto Rico and has a population of approximately 3.6 million people. Its located in the north eastern Caribbean. In 1993 the country celebrated the 500th anniversary of Christopher Columbas’s landing on the island. The land was ruled by Spain for four centuries until it came under US sovereignty in 1898. The people of Puerto Rico are US citizens.

While the country has its own constitution, Puerto Rico has been described as having commonwealth status with the US. There are no travel restrictions between the US and Puerto Rico, including no customs taxes or quotas on shipments.
The island itself measures about 100 * 35 miles. The landscape ranges from flat coastal plains to a mountainous interior. The island benefits from a sub tropical climate making it a great location for vacations. The average temperature on the island is 74 degrees Fahrenheit.
